On Thursday afternoon, Max Verstappen took his seat on the familiar red sofa for the official FIA press conference in Spa. As quickly became apparent, the tone was set for the next thirty minutes.

Earlier that morning, the driver had shared news of a partnership with McLaren junior Dries Van Langendonck. However, this initiative announced by Verstappen rapidly faded into the background.

Consequently, Van Langendonck's presence had little impact on the media's agenda. It soon turned out that most of those present wanted to discuss something entirely different.

The main thrust of the interview revolved primarily around Verstappen's own future. Rumours were in plenty of supply, and the press was keen to find out more, confronting the driver directly.
