Journalists recently put a question to McLaren management regarding the relative standings or performance compared to Red Bull Racing. However, an extensive response to that comparison was not forthcoming.

The answer that followed was short and left little room for further interpretation: 'Well, you know what?' This statement betrays a certain reluctance to openly address the suggestion of a direct confrontation with the competition.

Such an attitude may point to a deliberate strategy by the team. They likely wish to keep the focus internal, on their own development and progress, rather than publicly engaging in speculation about the competitive hierarchy.

It appears that the British team chooses to minimize the pressure of external comparisons, aiming to prevent attention from wandering away from their own objectives and the path the team is taking.
