Formula 1 is preparing for a new generation of drivers and a significant grid expansion. While talents like Kimi Antonelli and Ollie Bearman are already grabbing headlines, a brand-new team, Cadillac, is also preparing to enter the sport. These developments promise to shake things up considerably over the coming seasons.
One of the most talked-about young prospects is 18-year-old Kimi Antonelli. The Italian is gearing up for a high-profile debut: Mercedes has chosen him to succeed seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, with his first race scheduled for 2025. He recently put in a quick lap at Silverstone, further fueling expectations.
20-year-old Brit Ollie Bearman is also making a name for himself. Following his debut season with Haas, he is still adapting to the pressure of Formula 1, including the spotlight that comes with being a social media sensation. Bearman was seen behind the wheel this summer at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
It is not just young drivers driving the sport forward. From 2026, F1 will welcome the Cadillac team, an entry that coincides with major new technical regulations. Although American automotive giant General Motors serves as a key financial backer, team principal Graeme Lowdon emphasizes that establishing an F1 operation is a monumental task. Their factory, located right next to the Silverstone circuit, stands as proof of that effort.
