VCARB 03 Receives Further Upgrades for Hungarian Grand Prix
Racing Bulls continues development of the VCARB 03 with new parts. Following their Belgian introduction, both cars in Hungary feature a revised cooling system and added aerodynamic elements.

The Racing Bulls team continues to push hard on the development of the VCARB 03. For the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring, the squad has brought another package of updates aimed at enhancing performance on the demanding circuit. These adjustments highlight the determination to remain competitive throughout the season.
A portion of these developments was already introduced during the race weekend in Belgium. At the time, it was primarily rookie Arvid Lindblad's car serving as the test bed. His VCARB 03 was the first to receive the revised cooling system at Spa-Francorchamps, allowing valuable data to be gathered under race conditions.
For the event in Hungary, Racing Bulls has rolled out the updates more broadly. Arvid Lindblad retains his updated components, while the team's second car is now also fitted with the same revised cooling system. This means both drivers can take to the track with identical specifications, enabling a fair performance comparison and consistent data collection.
However, the innovations are not limited to the previous cooling modifications. On top of the already tested parts, the VCARB 03 has undergone further specific aerodynamic changes in Hungary. Most eye-catching are two new fins added to the airbox, a clear sign of ongoing efforts to optimize airflow around the top of the car.
These airbox fins are typically designed to direct airflow more efficiently toward the rear wing and diffuser, or to enhance engine intake performance. Optimizing these airflows is crucial for both downforce and cooling efficiency—factors that are essential on a twisty circuit like the Hungaroring. The combination of cooling and aerodynamic updates indicates a search for better balance and improved overall grip.
Racing Bulls' strategy appears focused on steady improvement across the entire season rather than a single major leap. By testing new components on one car first before a wider rollout, the team can accurately evaluate their impact and minimize risks. This demonstrates a controlled approach to development.
Now, the team must fully capitalize on the potential of these latest updates. Results from the upcoming free practice sessions will provide an initial indication of the VCARB 03's effectiveness in this new configuration. Expectations are that the modifications will contribute to a more competitive midfield showing.
