Steiner: FIA must finally embrace AI and permanent stewards
The anticlimactic safety car finish at the British Grand Prix has prompted Guenther Steiner to call for sweeping changes at the FIA, including permanent stewards and artificial intelligence.

Somewhat predictable after yet another race that ended with more questions than answers. The British Grand Prix left far from everyone satisfied, largely thanks to that late-race safety car. Former team principal Guenther Steiner saw it too and has a few ideas on how the FIA can fix the issue.
His proposal is crystal clear: time for permanent stewards and a healthy dose of artificial intelligence in decision-making. Out with rotating officials, hello consistency – at least, that is the theory behind Steiner's call for permanent stewards.
It all centered on the finish at Silverstone, which many considered downright unsatisfactory. While Charles Leclerc claimed his first victory of the season, followed by George Russell and teammate Lewis Hamilton, the win came after a finish behind the safety car.
Steiner wants to prevent a repeat of this anticlimax at all costs. Apparently, the human factor – or the lack thereof in certain situations – remains a sticky point for Formula 1's governing body. Time for computers to take over, it would seem.
