Russell untouchable, Verstappen fights back to podium

George Russell demonstrated in the race why he is a winner. Driving from pole position, the Mercedes driver executed an extremely controlled race, holding off pressure from chasing drivers despite intense heat and the failure of his drink system.

Max Verstappen impressed with a formidable comeback. Following his qualifying crash, the Dutchman fought his way back to second place, driving aggressively and fast to come close to victory while engaging in exciting duels. Behind him, teammate Kimi Antonelli completed the podium, further solidifying his comfortable championship lead, although an awkwardly timed VSC period may have cost him a shot at the win.

Oscar Piastri enjoyed a quiet but highly efficient race, guiding his McLaren to a solid fourth place. Isack Hadjar also recovered well from a disappointing qualifying session to finish a strong sixth, though his teammate's podium spot may have been a bitter pill. Liam Lawson delivered another composed points-scoring performance, as did rookie Arvid Lindblad, who secured another top-ten finish.

For Ferrari, the race unfolded disappointingly. Charles Leclerc started from the front row, but saw his pace fade quickly and finished far below his grid position. Lewis Hamilton also endured a difficult afternoon; despite a strong qualifying, he and the team failed to find race pace, leaving the choice of soft tires feeling like a bizarre, yet necessary, gamble.

More widespread issues plagued Alpine, where all drivers suffered from a lack of speed and dropped back through the field. Aston Martin endured a day to forget, marked by an early retirement for Lance Stroll and a time penalty for Fernando Alonso. Williams likewise saw both cars retire prematurely, as did Cadillac, whose drivers Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez logged barely any track time due to technical issues.
